Gday Chad
Thanks for the update. It’s so great to know the house is raising back up ion its feet. I was bloody worried there for a while…
I wish I still lived in vermillion so I could help more. I would love to be an alumni contact, etc. Unfortunately, the Pacific Ocean is mighty big, and Qantas can be mighty expensive…
Thanks for the updates, and positive vibes from down under

Cheers mate

Hi Chad!

I am one of your chapters’ founding fathers, Steven Holdridge #11. I recently got a e-mail relative to your financial problems. I’m sure I’d be glad to help. Who and where would I send my contribution?

I graduated from law school in 1971 and became a special agent (criminal investigator) with the United States Treasury Department for 27 years. I spent my career guarding Presidents, putting drug dealers in prison and taking away all their assets. I retired at 50 in 1997. I live in Jefferson City, Missouri, the state capital.

Gregory Yates transferred to USD from Wyoming in 1967 and was instrumental in starting our colony. About 20 friends started it up and we met at the Union Building on Monday nights. We became an active chapter in 1968, while I was in law school. I never got a chance to live in a fraternity house. But we all had fun beating up on the established fraternities in intramurals, strollers, chariot race and other activities. John Quaintance was a roomate and our 1st commander.

John Quaintance, Kenny Peterson, William Deam, Dennis Hogarth, Gregory Yates and myself all graduated from USD law school.

What I would like to know is if you have a recent alumni directory or e-mails of the founding fathers, as I have not talked to or seen most of them since leaving Vermillion in 1971. Ialso would be interested in knowing where John Jennings(#58) is, if he was from Highmore, South Dakota. I believe he became a stock broker and was very succesful. Keith Carlyle(#26) became mayor of Rapid City in his 20’s.

I’m sure you can raise a substanial amount of money from your founding fathers, as we were all very successful in life.

Let me know and good luck. Maybe you could start organizing a 40th reunion for 2008.

Best Regards
Steve Holdridge(573-893-4808)

It was great seeing all of you at the annual golf outing. It is great to hear the promising outlook for the future of the house. Let me know how I can help and good luck with a successful rush. I’m planning to make a run for Verm town for D-days. My oldest boy is a senior and I thought I’d show him what main street looks like in Vermillion over D-days.

Great work!

Thank you for your response and good luck with the chapter and the house. The saga described by the Chapter President reminds me of the challenges we faced when we did not have a house. Rush was held in the Student Center and social events were held at the local establishments. To maintain the brotherhood Actives often roomed together off campus. The current challenges inspired me to donate for that reason. Hope it will motivate others as well.

Hi Chad! Awesome job on the website and the letter!! I wish we could have been doing something like that a long time ago but I don’t think anyone from my era would have any idea how to construct a website!!! I was going through some of my old e-mails to guys that gave to keep the house alive a year ago and I will list some names and addresses in case they are not on Nationals list. Here goes….Mike Doeringsfeld mtdoer@comcast.net Troy Helfenstein Troy.Helfenstein@lee.net Brad Hanks bhanks@remax.net Jay Burkink Burkink@comcast.net Bill Gerdes gerdes@dakotalaw.com Bob Jones bjones952@msn.com Jim Clement James.R.Clement@Rbcdain.com Joel Jarman joeljarman@siouxriverethanol.com Pat Looby PLooby@hrblock.com Tom Duba tom.duba@tyson.com and Jon Hof Jonhof1457@aol.com You may already have some of these or these might be old but were active a year ago. Thanks for all your hard work and hopefully we will get a good response. Got an e-mail from Mike DeBuck and he committed to 500 a year for 5 years! I did have to remind him of the 5 year pledge as he had just said he would give 500 this year. You may get guys that donate money now that will need to be e-mailed back asking if they can donate the same amount for 5 years. Thanks again…Dave West TB234

Gday mates
Just wanted to drop a quick note to say thanks for the efforts. I am trying to spread the word as much as possible…the idea of a website where people can get/stay in touch is probably long over due, and will surely do wonders to foster the sense of community necessary to make this whole thing work. One day a message board would be awesome…imagine the old stories and flame-ups that would happen on that! Worth it for potential entertainment value alone!
Hope things are well.
I’ll be hitting the PayPal next payday…and the next one after that.

Cheers

I am pretty sure it was taken in ‘97 (animal house 97 photo). I’m the one with the N on the top and my brother is in the busch lite diaper in the first row. Dustin Pullman and I have sent it on to many people. You guys have put together some good stuff. I hope everything works out for us.
